*runs out to buy warrior new armor*

My main question would be if you need a protector title to gain access to hard mode? Not that it is that big of a problem, if it will be out within a month that is enough time to get one, but I need to know if I should start on that or not. Otherwise this sounds great. I go back to ascalon every now and then just to kill some charr. Now it will actually have a point.

Well, since you're going to die someday, maybe you should just quit now anyway.

For example, we're altering the death explosions of the Afflicted creatures in Factions, creature distribution in particularly difficult areas, monsters scattering away from area of effect spells, and healer creatures running from melee attackers indefinitely.
I don't know if someone touched on this subject or not because its 11:30 pm where I am and I want to go to be so I'm not going to read all 11 pages of posts to find out.

Anyways, does this mean that there is ANOTHER AI CHANGE!! only its reverting the AI back to before the original changes were made???

It says monsters wont be running away from AoE anymore. Unless I'm reading this wrong doesn't that make BOT farming even more doable and completely go against everything A-net has done in the past? (I guess with the coming out of GW2 I should be suprised...)

For the record, I am glad they are making the creatures not run away from AoE just because I like my Ele and I want to use firestorm again.
If these changes are what I think they are, Savanha Heat is going to be INSANELY OVERPOWERED if enemies don't run away from it.

You're going to need it to be if the average mob level hovers around 30.

Well it's a good thing. People (not bots) got pissed off big time cause of the running monsters, and I saw lots of people leaving the game already. Stopping bots should NEVER come together with pissing off, and chasing away players. I'm glad A-Net seems to realize this

If GW 2 comes out, it will be hard to sell gold for GW 1, anyway. Also, now that people can farm themselves, they don't need bots to get cash.

Ohh, and time to blow the dust off my ele and monk, cause they're usable again

(BTW I understood the AI changes were only for normal mode? So if you want a challenge, you can still see the running monsters in hard mode)

What will they do to DoA to make it harder? One hit kills? 500 damage AoE with level 50 monsters? Mallyx makes your game crash if you hit him? You get cancer if you use a certain skill in a certain area? I doubt they could make it much harder without being impossible.

This will all be rather fun when the AI in these Hard Areas get new skills but are the same Munsters with new and proper level items.

New farm builds! Yay!

I am intrigued by the Lock Pick device though...encourages the youngsters in Ascalon I tell you. :P

I hope so. Also, I hope the Hard Mode areas/missions do not take as long as some of the other stuff. I realyl don't have time to spend 8 hours doing DoA or even 3 to do The Deep/Urgoz sometimes. These areas are "optional" though and you only gain money and exp from doing them. But in Hard Mode where there will be the Vanquisher+Guardian titles around I would hope they made it less time consuming so more of the community can play it.

I think that 'unmaxing' the existing Protector titles would be the stupidest thing that A-Net could think of doing.

What next? Cartographer titles are now unmaxed until you re-explore the whole world on Hard Mode??

There are a lot of issues with titles anyway, as some really aren't ever going to be maxed without olympic grind (ID 10,000 gold items? erm?) and ebay gold. Then there are those, like Skill Hunter, that are currently impossible to max.

I don't know how many people noticed, but there is now a (15) on the Maxed Titles Track (according to Guildwiki): I'm Very Important.

Really, how is anyone expected to get this, as things currently stand? Getting beyond about 6-7 maxed titles is already looking impossible enough without A-Net removing the achievements that people already had!

Like a number of people I am currently working towards KOABD on two characters. With my first I am going for 2 Explorers/3 Protectors and with the other I am doing Legendary Survivor/Skill Hunter/3 Protectors.

I'm mostly done on this, and if I found that one day the Protector titles had disappeared I would NOT be rushing back to do them on Hard Mode. Disgust would probably be a more realistic response. I'd simply free up the disk space on my Hard Drive and save some cash by not buying GW4.

A-Net REALLY net to take a look at the achievability of some of these titles. And also consider some other radical changes:

1) Drunkard, Treasure Hunter, Wisdom...come on, who is going to get up to 10,000? Really?

2) Character-based titles vs Account-based titles. I know it's a radical idea but why not make a lot more of these Account-based? I am thinking again of Wisdom, Treasure Hunter, Drunkard, Sweet Tooth etc. It's a total pain in the bum switching characters and items all the time to ID stuff, horde alcohol etc. And it's really not cool because I have 9 character slots but - if I want to max a title - I have to spend a really disproportionate amount of time just on one character. And even worse if I want to go for the maxed titles track. Is this what A-Net wanted? A bunch of one-character players? It's really unfair on the PvE players - PvP titles are all account-wide. A brand new PvP character can be a Renowned Hero (9), but if I have opened 200 chests each on 5 characters I am not an Advanced Treasure Hunter (3) but just a Treasure Hunter (1) five times?

3) Sunspear points. This is a hell of a grind everytime you want to create a character in Nightfall. Again - why not make it account based? It's not like Istan is exactly a 'quick' build-up anyway. I know it may seem counter-intuitive to pool Sunspear points but hey: non NF characters auto-complete 'And a Hero Shall Lead Them' and also what about in Factions where you can pool Kurzick/Luxon and auto-complete 'Befriending the Kurzicks/Luxons' if you stick at 10,000?

4) How about some maxed titles for achieving mini-sets of maxed titles. Global Cartographer/Global Protector have been suggested.

5) Skill-unlocking. In short, one of the best aspects of GW's longevity is the opportunity to make new builds. So, 1000 gold is just way too much to afford to unlock a skill for ONE PvE character ... when you also need gold for keys, Capture Sigs etc. Now I know that you don't want a n00by character coming out of pre-sear and using echoed Meteor Shower but there has to be some way of better-treating people that have 7 characters and need to buy the same skill 7 times at 1000 gold each. One solution could be to say that - once your PvE character has ascended, you can use all Account-Unlocked skills (perhaps minus elites). But it's really annoying me now that most of my chars have heroes with better builds than me. It's just wrong that people have to farm to generate gold to buy skills to keep the game interesting. Especially of they are re-buying a skill for the 5th time. Half of these skills I've re-bought were wasted on build ideas that didn't quite work anyway.

The cumulative impact of all these gameplay factors is that - if you want titles - you play the same character with the same skillset for hours and hours. Titles were supposed to create longevity of interest, not monotony of gameplay. This CAN be fixed.

In short, if A-Net is looking to rebalance titles:

1) Make every PvE title Account-Based except Protectors/Cartographers. Move away from single-character/single-build grind by reducing the max skill price to 500 gold or allowing global PvE unlock.

2) Consider reducing the 10,000 required units on Drunkard/Wisdom/Sweet Tooth/Treasure Hunter to a more realistic figure so players can actually max the titles and be realistic about getting above (5) on the maxed titles track.

3) DON'T take away existing titles that people have worked hard for. Protector titles may be easier than Source of Wisdom (7) but that's only because the latter is impossible! Protector is not easy - in fact it's just about as hard as it should be to get a maxed title. Especially with some of the tricks mentioned above, needed for getting bonuses in some messed up Prophecies missions.

Sorry if this was long and drifted off topic slightly but titles are something I've worked hard on and wish to continue working hard on... and I know there are others out there who have the same concerns.
